This paper contains an overview of a series of papers that will report on proposed investigations to identify and evaluate latent opportunities – existing, emerging, expecting – that if realised could contribute to maximising the well-being of not only Scotland’s citizens but the natural environment and resources which sustains them. It is envisaged that the realisation of this will depend on meshing “bravely innovating” processes of governments, enterprises and communities-of-interest to enhance Scottish strengths, particularly in export endeavour, in existing and emerging sectors and to shape the environment for “back-to-the-future” expectations of resurgent enlightenment.
